Mother's Day
A national day off when Georgians bring flowers to their mothers and grandmothers.
Georgia has kept 3 March as Mother's Day since 1991, and it is a public holiday. Flower sellers set up on every corner, families gather for lunch and restaurants are busy. Banks and many offices close.
For travellers it mostly means closed public offices and fuller restaurants. Museums and sights in Tbilisi normally stay open.
- Expect government offices and banks to be closed.
- Book a table if you plan a long lunch in Tbilisi.
