Flying in with a tent, a stove and a warm sleeping bag is expensive and awkward. Renting in Tbilisi lets you travel light and still camp on the classic treks: Mestia to Ushguli, Omalo to Shatili over the Atsunta Pass, the Juta and Chaukhi valley, or the high camps on Mount Kazbek.

Kits are cleaned and checked between hires. For Kazbek and other glacier climbs we add crampons, an ice axe, a harness and a helmet, and can pair you with a certified mountain guide. Gas canisters are not allowed in your flight luggage, so every rented stove comes with one.
Several outdoor shops in Tbilisi rent tents and sleeping bags, and some guesthouses in Mestia and Kazbegi keep basic kit. We reserve a complete set and bring it to your hotel in Tbilisi.

Yes, screw-on canisters are sold in Tbilisi outdoor shops, but supply in the mountains is unreliable. Rented stoves come with a full canister.
